Sophia’s Story
Surgery:
Left leg Granzow SAPLSM
Sophia is a Business Manager from California. She had cervical cancer and was treated with hysterectomy, lymph node dissection and radiation therapy. While in her 30’s, she developed lymphedema of the left leg. Before developing lymphedema, she was athletic and really enjoyed playing baseball. For seven years, worsening lymphedema took a physical and emotional toll. Sophia couldn’t exercise the way she wanted to and started to gain weight. She battled multiple cellulitis infections. By the time she saw Dr. Granzow, her lymphedema became severe and had progressed to Stage 2 lymphedema. After Granzow SAPL surgery the size of her leg normalized, she lost the excess weight, and she was able to return to her active lifestyle.
