Danielle’s Story

Surgeries: Right leg LVAs

Danielle lives in the Midwest and is a cervical cancer survivor. After her hysterectomy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, she developed stage 1 lymphedema in the right leg. She first experienced pain and swelling during horseback riding about five years after her cervical cancer treatment. Danielle’s lymphedema made it challenging for her to do the things she loved such as cooking and traveling. She was in constant pain and struggled with constant use of a compression garment. Following LVA surgery in 2013 with Dr. Granzow, Danielle has her life back. Her swelling significantly decreased and she is able to stand for longer periods of time without a compression garment.

“Dr. Granzow literally gave me my life back! Before finding Dr. Granzow I had been to dozens of doctors looking for help with my debilitating lymphedema… everyone told me “there is nothing that can be done, you will just need to live with it”. When I flew out to meet with Dr. Granzow my right leg lymphedema was so bad I couldn’t even wear the same size shoes and big, baggy sweatpants were the only thing that I could wear… I was in constant pain from all the swelling and I basically had no real quality of life.  After going through the recommended treatment and surgery with Dr. Granzow, I have had a total physical, mental and emotional transformation… and with continued care, my results have stayed consistent for years now! I’m truly grateful for Dr. Granzow giving me my life back!”
