Carol’s Story

Surgeries:
Phase 1: Right arm Granzow SAPLSM
Phase 2: Right arm VLNT, bilateral DIEP flap breast reconstructions

Carol is a breast cancer survivor from California. After a double mastectomy, axillary lymph node dissection and radiation treatment, she suffered from stage 2 lymphedema for 17 years before seeing Dr. Granzow. She suffered from repeated episodes of cellulitis and had to take antibiotics daily to prevent these dangerous infections. She was really concerned that these infections would continue to significantly impact her health. After Granzow SAPLSM and VLNT lymphedema surgeries, she is happy to have her life back. She no longer takes daily antibiotics and can go without her garment during the day.

“After 17 years of severe lymphedema, infections and an arm twice the size of normal, Dr. Granzow gave me back my life with surgery. I will forever be grateful.”

“It was really a miracle in what Dr. Granzow did for me. I still can’t believe that’s my arm.”

“Please send my best to Dr. Granzow and his entire staff. Please include Julie Soderberg who nearly after 8 years is still in contact with me and continues to help me keep my arm controlled. Everyone supported not only me but my husband as well through some of the more difficult times.”
